There hasn't been alot going on in the world on 'new music' this week. Red Hot Chilli Peppers released a new album that was kinda rubbish and Kimbra dropped her debut record Vows which is kinda awesome. This may seem irrelevant to Sydney band Magnetic Heads but the point is it has left me time to poke around for new bands. They are one of my discoveries. The Sydney six piece has just released their new EP Wild Eyes and it is very exciting indeed. The melodies are Best Coast in simplicity, the lyrics The Smiths in tone. It gives them an 80s throwback vibe, particularly back to the British bands of the time. Sometimes with a female backing vocal (Wild Eyes) the whole composition is very subtle. Little bursts of melody keep us not only listening but loving. On top of it they have a Cloud Control vibe which I'm not sure myself why. Possibly because both bands possess an effortless charm that draws you in from the first listen.Listen for yourself to Wild Eyes below:
